My exercise goals are:
One hour or more of vigorous exercise every day in 1 to 3 sessions.
Constant activity during the day while working.
A wide variety of exercises addressing strength training, cardio functions and range of motion/core.
Strength Training
Gyms
I have free membership at four nearby gyms thanks to Silver Sneakers: Planet Fitness, Fitness Connection, LA Fitness, and Crunch. Planet Fitness is my favorite because it is compact, lunk-free quiet and has everything on one floor. I prefer machines rather than free weights in a gym.
Basement
I use a chair gym in my basement and one I can move outdoors to be in the sun. The chair gym provides upper body bands in a seated position. While seated, I also do a variety of waist and hip bends, rotations and stretches. es.
I also have a cage setup to do band work. on my upper body/arms.
At home I use dumbbells extensively and some kettle bells.
Cardio Functions
Due to arthritis in my knees. I tend to avoid any impact. cardio exercises.
My primary cardio is on exercise bikes.
I have two Fit Desk bikes, one on the front porch for outdoors and one in the basement in front of a big TV. I also use a variety of upright bikes in the gyms that I go to.
I do some walking on a treadmill at home, and at gyms. However, my knees are impacted by walking.
Range of Motion & Core
My morning seated exercise “with the sun” includes hand weights and leg bands that I move in a wide variety of directions.
I use a foam roller against a wall to address posture.
MAT Days
I do “on my back” exercises and stretches on top of multiple two inch floor mats in the basement.
I use bands suspended by my cage to do assisted sit-ups.
